The Best Way is my way! Isn't it, God?

Jesus Visits Martha and Mary

38 Now as they went on their way, he entered a village; and a woman named Martha received him into her house.

39 And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to his teaching.

40 But Martha was distracted with much serving; and she went to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.”

41 But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things;

42 one thing is needful.[e] Mary has chosen the good portion, which shall not be taken away from her.”  RSV

Here in the mountains of western North Carolina, spring usually means warmer weather. Of course, we have had snow in April once or twice. It is not supposed to happen that way. It should be the way it is supposed to be.

We like knowing what is going to happen in life don't we?

Often, we pray:

God may your will be done.

Father, show us what you want us to do to serve You, the church, and your children.

Lord, please take care of this. You know the best way. (my way?)

Often, when we are praying, we believe that "His way", "what the Father wants us to do" and "the best way" is the same as Our way, our opinion. But it isn't.

God knows so much more than we do about everything including ourselves.

I am sure that you can think back to a time that things happened differently that you wanted and yes, it turned out better than you could have imagined. God knew better than you did and he still does.

We are creatures of habit. We like things to stay the same. Unless it doesn't fit with our idea of how it should be. Then change is okay.

Let's remember that God knows more, sees more and wants the Best for you!

Today may be a good day to truly turn it over to God.

Let us pray,

Almighty Precious God,

Thank you for creating us in your image. Thank you for surrounding us with your creation of the earth, the skies, your animals, the sunshine, the plants and all that you know would be Good for us.

We totally turn our fears, our needs and everything that we are over to you because we know you always want the best for us! Mold us, love us and forgive us in your perfect way.

Help us see where we can serve others to help them in their life by sharing the Good News of your son, reaching out to share your love and to reassure them to talk to you anything, for any reason and in any way.

You want us to share in our conversation to you, our joys and our doubts, our fears and our doubts, our needs and the needs of others.

We strive to be as close as we can to you. To feel your warmth, your peace, your love and your protecting arms.

We pray this in the name of the Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit.  Amen.
